The operation “Truck & Bus” is an initiative of the Roadpol (Network of cooperation among European Road Police) aimed at promoting road safety through the intensification of checks on buses and heavy vehicles used for the transport of goods (including hazardous ones) both registered nationally and internationally.
The purpose of the “Truck & Bus” operation is to verify compliance with the elements that have the greatest impact on road safety, such as:
- the technical conditions of the vehicle;
- the psychophysical conditions of the drivers;
- driving and rest times;
- the load and the accompanying documents for the goods.
During the checks, all road police forces of the European Union operate with the same methods and tools. The common goal is to develop awareness and consciousness by all drivers and road users. HERE you will find the calendar with all the appointments for 2021.
JULY 2021 UPDATE: TACHOGRAPH REGULATION ADJUSTMENT
The initiative, which started at the beginning of 2021 (and which we had already discussed in February) includes several appointments, including the next one, which will last from July 19 to July 25, 2021. The intensification of controls necessitates a rapid adjustment to the tachograph regulation.
OCTOBER 2021 UPDATE: HEAVY VEHICLE PENALTIES
From October 11 to October 17, 2021, controls on heavy vehicles will be intensified again as part of the European campaign “Truck & Bus”. During the indicated days, the agents of the Traffic Police will verify the psychological and physical condition of the drivers, compliance with speed limits, adherence to the “ADR” regulation on the transport of dangerous goods, and all other transport regulations provided by national and community legislation. Failure to comply will result in heavy vehicle penalties.
