Today the first operation has started “Truck & Bus”. This is an initiative of the Roadpol (Network of cooperation among European Road Police) aimed at promoting road safety. Through the intensification of checks on buses, on heavy vehicles used for the transport of goods, including dangerous ones, both of national and foreign registration, the objective is clear.
Checks and possible penalties for driving and rest times
The purpose of the operation, which will last until February 15, is to verify compliance with the elements that have the greatest impact on road safety. The main focus will therefore be on vehicle conditions, psychophysical conditions of the drivers, checks and possible penalties for driving and rest times and the load.
During the checks, all the Road Police forces of the European Union operate with the same methods, uniform tools, and a common goal, which is to develop awareness and consciousness among all drivers and road users.
Road safety and driving times for heavy vehicles
The initiative is the first of others planned for 2021 and demonstrates the need for companies and their drivers for a quick adjustment to national and community regulations to protect road safety: drivers must comply with heavy vehicle driving times to avoid endangering other motorists.
